Sherie Motakef, Ph.D. |
Sherie Motakef holds a Ph.D. in
Optical Materials and Engineering from the
University of Arizona. She received her BS and MS degrees from MIT in Materials
Science and Engineering with a special concentration in
semiconductors. While at MIT, she completed 3 research projects at the IBM T.J.
Watson Research Center on silicide and copper materials for microelectronic
applications. Sherie has received awards from the American Ceramic
Society (1994) and the American Chemical Society (1995) for her dissertation
on novel materials for integrated optics. She has authored and coauthored 25
technical publications.

Joe Tinervia |
Joe Tinervia, a 20-year veteran of the New York book-publishing
scene, is the author of a number of textbooks on business communications,
writing, and English grammar. He is a former Editorial Director of the
McGraw-Hill Book Company, where he specialized in business communications.
Today, as Director of The Writing Center, Joe conducts seminars on writing,
vocabulary development, grammar and punctuation, presentation skills, and
time-management techniques.

product design and development, he wears many hats—product engineer,
industrial designer, business entrepreneur, innovation strategist, graphic
artist, educator, author, speaker and publisher. Bill provides management,
consulting and training internationally to entrepreneurs, corporations and
educational institutions for revolutionary business success.
Bill was
one of the first in-house product designers at Apple Computer, leading and
managing the design process there for several innovative new products,
including the forerunner of the Macintosh. After leaving Apple as a Product
Design Manager, he continued as a design consultant to Apple on a number of
new computer products. Bill is featured as an early Apple innovator in the
book by Paul Kunkel, AppleDesign: The Work of the Apple Industrial Design
Group (Graphis Press).

California State University, Fullerton. He received
his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a Specialization in Control Systems

Kalman Filtering Theory & Practice Using MATLAB (Second Edition) and
Global Positioning Systems, Inertial Navigation & Integration,
published by Wiley & Sons in 2001. He was invited to author the "Kalman

Electrical and Electronics Engineering (1999) and "The Kalman

Encyclopedia of Life

He is the author of
Videodisc and Optical Memory Technologies and Videodisc Systems: Theory and
Applications. He has authored numerous technical articles and holds several
patents on digital information storage techniques and video signal
processing. He presented the world's first public engineering course on
videodisc technology (January 1982) and taught the world's first graduate
courses on videodisc and optical memories (CD, CD-ROM, etc.).
